We are glad to invite you to participate in the Fifth Conference of the Asian Consortium for Computational Materials Science (ACCMS-5), which is co-organized by the Institute of Physics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (IOP/VAST), Hanoi University of Technology (HUT) and Hanoi University of Science, Vietnam National University of Hanoi (HUS/VNUH). The ACCMS has been set up in 2000 in order to nurture and promote research and development activities in computational materials science in Asian countries. The ACCMS conference becomes an international event for exchanging and archiving new results and knowledge on the development of advanced computational methodologies and their strong link to materials science and engineering applications. The previous successful ACCMS conferences were held in India (Bangalore 2001), RussiaNovosibirsk, 2004), China (Beijing, 2005), Korea (Seoul, 2007) and the three Virtual Organisation (ACCMS-VO) meetings were held in Japan (Sendai, 2007, 2008 and 2009).

The ACCMS-5 conference comprises 15 technical topics (ranging from Car-Parrinello Molecular Dynamics to modelling of mechanical properties of materials under extreme conditions) with 3 keynote talks, invited talks and oral and poster presentations for contributed papers. Following the tradition, the ACCMS-5 will continue to award Kawazoe prizes to the best poster presentations in order to encourage young scientists. The scope of two-day short courses given by international experts from Germany, Japan, UK and USA, is focused on advanced computational methodologies in materials modelling at nano scale. The important dates are:

The deadline for short course registration: June 15, 2009.
The deadline for abstract submission: June 15, 2009.
The notification of abstract acceptance: June 30, 2009
The deadline for final registration: August 15, 2009
The deadline of manuscript submission: September 11, 2009

We would be grateful if you could forward this announcement to any colleagues who may be interested in the conference topics and the short-course training in computational materials science. We look forward to your contribution and participation. For our part, we will do our best to provide a valuable scientific program and to welcome you to city of Hanoi which will celebrate its thousand years in 2010.

With our best regards,

Nguyen Hong Quang
