Hanoi University of Science and Technology hosts the 16th AUN/SEED-net Steering Committee General Conference & Annual Meeting for the year 2009 Print

AUN/SEED-net (www.seed-net.org)  (ASEAN University Network/ Southeast Asia Engineering Education Network) was officially established in April 2001. This is the project supported by Japanese government through Japanese International Cooperation Agency and by ASEAN Fund. The network includes 19 official members and 11 Japanese supporting universities. HUST is one of the network member right after its foundation and in the Project Steering Committee for the period 2009-2010.

On November 6th, 2009, HUST successfully organized the “16th AUN/SEED-net Steering Committee General Conference and Annual Meeting for the year 2009” at Horizon Hotel, Hanoi, Vietnam. Over 50 representatives from 10 ASEAN countries and Japan joined the conference. Prof. Dr. Tran Quoc Thang-Former Vice President of HUST and Dr. Nguyen Thi Le Huong-Vice Dean of Higher education Department, MOET participated in the conference’s opening ceremony. Asso. Prof. Ha Duyen Tu-Vice President of HUST was the conference chairman.

Within one day of the conference, delegations listened to, discussed and gave comments on the Annual Activity Report in 2008; the Report on the project monitoring activities; the report on issues raised in 2009 Coordinator Meeting; the report on SEED-net’s activities in Japan; Action plan for the fiscal year of 2010; the verifying and assessing plan for the first half of 2009; and Sustainable development strategies of AUM/SEED-net. At the conference, Policies to expand the network by admitting more members was approved. The conference approved the admission of 8 more members including Mean Chey University, Cambodia; Sepulul Nopember Surabaya Technology institute, Indonesia’ Champasack and Souphanouvong Universities, Laos; Malaysia Melaka Engineering University; Mandalay Technology University and Western Yangon Technology University, Myanmar; and Mindanao Iigan National University, Philippine. Following HUST, Brunei Polytechnique University will host the “17th AUN/SEED-net Steering Committee General Conference and Annual Meeting for the year 2010”.
